VEDA NIKETAN
Veda Niketan is one of the oldest standing committees of Arya Samaj South Africa. The committee is involved in the promotion, propagation and preservation of the teachings of the Vedas and Swami Dayanand Saraswati. It is imperative that humanity is provided with the right knowledge in order to make informed choices and hence we as a committee try our best in empowering all through this knowledge. The Veda Niketan is divided into the following aspects.
1. Printing, Publications and Recording of Vedic Literature
The dissemination of Vedic knowledge via fliers, pamphlets, booklets, CD etc. takes place on a continuous basis. To assist students of the School of Vedic Studies, mantras are recorded and the performance of sanskaars are video recorded.
2. Religious Examinations
The Veda Niketan has introduced a series of publications called ‘Teachings of Hinduism’. These publications provide students with a systematic educational programme for the study of the Hindu Dharma in English.
3. Deep Daan Appeal
Deepavali is a time for giving and sharing and Veda Niketan uses this opportunity to secure the much-needed funds for its numerous activities. A humble appeal is made to all sponsors, donors and well-wishers for a cash donation during this time of the year.
4. Veda Jyothi
Veda Niketan is involved in the publication and distribution of Veda Jyothi, a magazine. This magazine disseminates Vedic knowledge and current issues four times a year.
5. Book Stalls and Book Sales.
Veda Niketan is involved in the sale of local and international Vedic literature. Book stalls are set up at fairs [e.g. ABH and Durban Deepavali Festival] and other major functions hosted by the Samaj.
