NARAIN JEAWON VEDIC CENTRE
A Community Shelter for Health, Education and Welfare
The doors of the Narain Jeawon Vedic Centre (NJVC) were opened to the underprivileged community on 28 May 1993. The primary goal of the NJVC is the provision of primary health care and cultivating social cohesion and shared values between our cultures. We are in partnership with the eThekwini Municipality and University of Kwazulu Natal through which the NJVC now provides services such as Audiology, Optometry, Occupational Therapy, Dental Therapy and General Medical services. We serve over 30 000 informal dwellers on a daily basis. Furthermore, sandwiches are provided on a weekly basis to help in a small way to sustain the community. Swami Maitreyi is now a full time resident at the
NJVC and has dedicated her life to serving the community. Activities such as the Daily Havan (African Mphepo), Sewing Classes and Computer Literacy are being introduced to the community. The NJVC is truly a landmark in the community and continued support from individuals and businesses is vital for the sustainability and promotion of this project.
The table below indicates the latest medical services being offered at the NJVC. General medical services are offered daily. For more information please contact Arya Samaj on 031 267 0544 or 031 267 0519 to assist or pledge your donations to the NJVC Fund .
